Refreshed - A Word from Reverend Hupp

Updated: Nov 19, 2019

Well Hello Park Place!! How have you been? I am so glad to be back with you all. I have certainly missed you. I have been watching the services on line when I was able to. We have had some great preaching!!

Thank you SO much to all of you who have stepped in while I was away. You are all amazing!! Over the summer I did a lot of things, many of which you will be hearing about in the very near future. I was able to do a month study to learn about clarifying your goals as well as learning how to use a variety of tools

that we can use to help move us forward. I was also able to take care of things around the house, like painting the outside of my house...and only fell off the ladder 4 times! Maybe I should get a spotter next time!! I was able to clean out my garage and that was a massive project…. and do a deep cleaning of my house.

I was also able to read 2 1/2 books… I enjoy listening to podcasts and happened to hear Oprah interview a woman who survived the holocaust and at 91 wrote a book about it called The Choice. She is still in practice as a psychologist helping the military soldiers deal with PTSD and others with trauma. That then lead me to read a book I thought I had read years ago called Man’s Search For Meaning by Victor Frankl...another survivor of Auschwitz. So, while visiting in Houston, felt compelled to visit the Holocaust Museum there…..very thought provoking especially in the climate we are in now with the immigration crisis!

I was able to take some time to travel...seeing family and take a trip to Corpus Christi...a place I have always wanted to visit. While there I toured the USS Lexington...did you know that the Lexington was the first ship to accept women Waves aboard? My Aunt Lois was a Wave...I thought it meaningful to be able to walk upon this ship with so much history….it is also the first carrier to have a female pilot land on it’s deck!! Pretty Cool!!

The sabbatical ended with my attending the General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) meeting in Des Moines. I am so proud to be a part of this church! You will be hearing more about that as well.

So, now that I am back and refreshed...we have lots of ministry to do...I come with great ideas...at least I think they are...lol…. So buckle up...we are on our way!!

Your Servant in Christ, Rev. Alice
