How to Subscribe to Park Place Events
This feature is in BETA as I've not had a chance to test every Calendar so far. NOTE: There is a bug in the how Windows Calendar (Windows Vista) reads the iCal file. I do NOT recommend using Windows Calendar until this is fixed by Microsoft.. I do recommend using Outlook 2007 or Sunbird for Windows OS users The subscription url is http://www.ppccwf.org/calendar.ics you should consult your application help files with any program not listed here (or if the version that I've exampled differs from yours). Simply clicking on the link will give you access to a 'snapshot' of the events for today, but if any events change or are added they will not show up in your calendar unless you subscribe to the Park Place Internet Calendar. However, most modern calendar applications have the ability to subscribe to an Internet calendar and update the listed events automatically. Here's how to subscribe in various programs: iCal (Macintosh), Mozilla Sunbird (Mac, Windows & Linux), Microsoft Outlook 2007 (Windows), Windows Calendar (Windows Vista). iCal (Macintosh) Open iCal then Click on Calendar on the menu and select Subscribe  Type in http://www.ppccwf.org/ppccwf.ics in the Subscribe To field and press the Subscribe button  So that you don't have to do these steps daily, put a check beside Refresh and select "every day" on the drop down and then press the OK button  You're done! You should now have a calendar named "Park Place Events" on the left hand side. Windows Calendar (Windows Vista) Due to a bug in how Windows Calendar reads recurring events in ICS files, I do not recommend the use of this program for Park Place. However I'm leaving this walk through just in case it's fixed in a future update. Open Windows Calendar and select the Share menu item and then select the Subscribe option  Type in http://www.ppccwf.org/ppccwf.ics in the Calendar to subscribe to field and press the Next button  Wait a few seconds while Windows Calendar imports the data....  Change the Calendar name to "Park Place Events" and change the Update interval to "Every day" then press the Finish button  And you're done! You should now have the updated events on your Windows Calendar from now on. Mozilla Sunbird (Mac, Windows & Linux) You can download Mozilla Sunbird from the Mozilla foundation here. This is an option if you do not have a program that supports remote calendars. Open Sunbird and select File then Subscribe to Remote Calendar  Select On the Network and press Next  Select iCalendar (ICS) and type in http://www.ppccwf.org/ppccwf.ics in the Location field then press Next  Type "Park Place Events" in the Name field then press Next then Finish  That's it! Every time Sunbird launches it'll reload the current events in our calendar! Microsoft Outlook 2007 (Windows) Open Microsoft Outlook.
Click on Tools then on Account Settings  Click on the Internet Calendars tab and then on the New function  Type in http://www.ppccwf.org/ppccwf.ics in the text box in the window that pops up and then press the Add button  Type in "Park Place Events" in the Folder Name field and press OK and then Close  Unfortunately you won't be able to view until you click on the Other Calendars sub tab (below My Calendars) to expose Park Place Events. Place a Check in the box beside this item.  Now every time Outlook syncs with email it'll sync with the Park Place calendar. |
